How do I break my lease?
Updated over a week ago

Breaking a contract may incur significant fees and charges. Before you consider breaking your lease, please discuss any concerns you may have with your team at reception.

In order to break your lease, you may need to complete the following:

  • Provide written notice of your intention to break your lease.

  • Continue to pay rent until the lease ends or a new tenant's lease commences, whichever is earlier, even if you vacate the property earlier.

  • Notify UniLodge of the date you will be vacating the property to allow for re-leasing preparations.

  • If you find someone who wants to take over the lease at the property, they must complete the application process, but approval is not guaranteed.

  • Be aware that fees may apply for breaking your lease, including an Advertising fee and a Re-letting fee.

  • Your weekly rent will remain payable until a new tenant starts their lease.
